Response to "Parcel n People Mover Concept"

This is an idea that transports people at peak hours and also packages! At the same time or separate. The details are not really in the article yet, as this is a "vision" not a moving object yet, but i would like to learn more about this idea as it seems very interesting.

"Ecolab's Bottle-in-a-bottle package design"
www.core77.com

Very creative package design. This makes a bottle fit into a refill bottle...it allows for easy refill of a product and insures that your product is continued to be used. Rather than selling them individually and people have to go out to buy it every time it is out. Creative. Very Creative.

Response to "Digital Surfaces for the Blind"
Making it easier on visually impaired people, technology just keeps topping itself...and very quickly. Not exactly sure to what extent this would help people out, but when a further article is published about it i will be there to read it.

Response to "Chairs Re-Imagined"

The design of the Chair is Back!! This was designed off of the idea of a rocket! Very creative and the outcome of the chair was a great one. Looks like it would be comfortable.

George Lucas

George Lucas

As soon as i read "George Lucas" on our list of potential paper topics, i knew that he would be it! I had been attached to George Lucas' work since my father introduced me to Star Wars. The innovative, eye catching, always keeps your interest type of film had me at hello. When i was introduced to his work again in Indiana Jones, i knew that there was something about his style and taste that brought us all in. It was much earlier than today that i had researched George Lucas. With a booming career like that, you had to know what his background was like.

He was born into California in 1944 with the early aspiration to be a race car driver. Not quite what you would expect for a film director. A car accident shortly before his high school graduation made him change career paths. It was an eye opener to just how hazardous his potential career was. Community school it was! Although film was just an interest, he knew that it was the only other thing he wanted to study. He attended a community college where he took  his interest in cinematography to the next level. He started playing around with the camera doing short films in his back yard with neighborhood friends, and friends of friends. Anything to keep his passion for this new hobby going. These would soon tour at local coffee houses. People seemed to enjoy them, but his group of fans remained small.

He was soon recognized by Haskel Wexler, a cinematographer. He inspired him to go further after seeing how he handled the camera. Lucas soon after attended a cinematic school in Southern California where his love for the camera grew even more. On to grad school and than on to millions of fans?! Not yet.

His first film was not a success, however his second, "American Grafitti" was. Star Wars, the following film, would catch the attention of many. From there, in making one of the most successful films of all time, LucasFilm was created, and by that i mean his own film company. His relationship from his college years with Steven Speilberg led to films that we all know as amazing, such as Indiana Jones.

Since then he has been up for four nominations for academy awards, the Life Achievement Award (by American Film Institute), named the 100th Greatest American (by The Discovery Channel), and many more. His style captures the attention of not only America, but beyond.

Response to "Israels first plug in parking lot"

Does seeing this make you want to get an electric car? Soon cars will be like charging a cell phone. This is an actual image not a photoshopped dream. This is both exciting and scary. But we are definitely moving in a different direction to help out the environment.

"Response to CritBuns"

This design is great for those who are at the computer all day, especially those in the design field! Although the article states that some personal opinions feel that it is ugly, i believe that if you are comphy than it doesnt matter. BUT since this is a design web sight the look should be critiqued! They are colorful, but maybe a more neutral look for those bringing it to an office? Who knows.

Response to "Fireplaces make us think of Snow"
www.core77.com

"Everyone likes a fireplace; they're warm and soothing. So we're not sure how we feel about Radius Design's indoor fireplace, pictured above, that runs on ethanol. Yes it's sleek and nifty, but there's something cold and off about it--this looks like something you'd install in your house in Los Angeles, but during a party some jerk named Lorenzo would come over and you'd find him and his model buddies doing cocaine off of this thing."

WOW...that is pretty bold to say. Im not sure about that...maybe about the Los Angeles house but besides that. I think it is a modern, very creative design. I could see it in maybe a smaller room, not as a family fireplace but maybe a bedroom? Its unique.

Response to "Red Bull DJ's Table"

"So why is beverage maker commissioning nightclub furniture? "Companies are always looking for ways to break through the clutter, especially when activating their sponsorships," Kyle Romaniuk, Cocoon's Brand Evolution Director & Principal. "Product design is a great way to make your brand part of an experience--rather than just intruding on one.""

This is great for advertising. Especially because red bull represents "energy" most people are full of energy in the presence of a DJ. Getting people to buy it to use, that is another task. Maybe there should be a "red bull" holder in the front of the table to put drinks in for more advertising purposes? I dont know. Just thinking ahead.

Response to "Bomb Proof Trash Cans"

www.core77.com

"The new bin is designed to absorb the heat of explosives and prevent the spread of shrapnel using "blast intelligent technology".
And in its new guise the bin will not only protect and collect, it will also keep passers-by up to date. Each will be fitted with the latest electronic technology, providing a stream of news and travel information on LCD screens."

This idea to me seemed a little streched with i started reading it, because it is something so minute and its such a big design for something so small. While the idea is great, i think that technology might be heading toward "out of hand" with this idea. If you told someone twenty years ago that we would have bomb-proof electronic garbage cans...they would have called the nearest mental facility to see if they were searching for an escapee.
