Comment On "Thames Water design comp finalists announced"

www.core77.com

London is trying to get people in resturants to buy tap water instead of bottled. In order to do this successfully they tried to have a design contest to see who could creat the best design to store the water in and pour it into the cups infront of the customers. The top three are creative and may have a chance of succeeding in their effort to create something visually pleasing.

Comment On "Modular Refrigerator for Student Houses"

AMAZING!! I wish they had this sooner. This is a fridge that has compartments so if you are sharing with more than one person you can each have your own section. Your section can be neat or messy and no one else will have to deal with it, dont have to worry about mistaking your food for someone else's either. What a brilliant design. I would invest in this.

Comment On "Tap'd Bottled Water"

Another "go green" effort in the design field. These water bottles are re-fillable NY State tap water. The article is great and describes with little effort the great effect that this will have on the community. They describe the purity of the water...and with a "pure" package design is accomplishes and displays just that!

Comment on "Synthesis"

This is a 16 year olds design for a new phone. It is related to the concept of "going green" which is why it caught my attention. The back of the phone is a solar charge which emilinates the amount of time your phone would have to spend charging due to the solar panel. Great idea, probably successful in the near future.

Comment On "Netflix Oragami"

This basically shows you how to make oragami on ordinary things that you get on a daily basis. Like subway maps and Netflix pages!! Very creative and very time fulfilling when your on a train. You can tune in on your iphone!! They are going to make videos, but for now it is a step by step paper process.

"Fitbit takes the pedometer and runs with it"
www.core77.com

This is a great idea especially with everyone today trying to be "fit" and "in shape". People are also interested in the idea of "small"...such as the phones and iPods we have today. This compact design allows you to see how many calories you burn in a day and how far you have walked/run.  This can distinguish the difference between walking/running/and being in a car. It also uploads your information into your computer at the end of the day!! Very great idea, i might actually invest in it!

Word Ideas...

Japanese:
Akarui: bright
omoshiri: interesting
utsukushii: beautiful
ureshii: happy

(i am very interested in the double "i" it would be visually pleasing to use in my final word.

Italian:
affetto: affection
onorato: honoured

Egyptian:
thaki: clever
lateef: kind
moheb: loving

Top 4 Word Choices:
tetoshii (no other meaning)
utonmo (no other meaning)
aakii (no other meaning)
ramoii (no other meaning)

Favorite Word Choice:
aakii

Comment On: New Bottle For Elmers
www.core77.com

*The first sentence is true! Elmers for as long as i can remember has had the same type of top! This new top looks like it is going in the right direction. Wood glue being applied in the shape of that top makes it easier than the old way and than spreading the glue around. This design is very inventive and it caught my eye because something that doesnt change as often is something to look into!

Comment On: Not Your Standard FEMA Trailor
www.core77.com

*Designing a new modern type of living space, like the one created to provide a safe, comfortable, but easily deployable home, can be a challenge. AND IT WAS! When looking at the top ten finalists i felt very un-creative. The ideas people come up with amaze me. The creativity in this challenge is what caught my eye.

Comment On "iPhone Document Scanner"
Site: http://www.core77.com/

*The fact that people are putting their brains to use to solve problems that they were having is great. The fact that they are using technology to their advantage is smart. This posting is so interesting because it reminds you how different everyone's thinking is. This is something i would have never thought of, but would definitly use!! The Screenagers generation is put to work here! Growing up with the type of technology that my generation did...definitly lead to an invention like this.

Comment On "1 Hour Design Challenge"
Site: http://www.core77.com/

*The design of the backpack chosen for the winner is very creative! I enjoyed reading the reasoning behind the design. It is student friendly. The design for the second place winner is great because there is humor involved. This caught my attention because coming up with a design for something that is currently used and is currently functional is difficult because it is already excepted by society. I give a lot of credit to those who can better a design that is already great!
