This is crazy...the article reads this...
"...The transformation is truly revolutionary--no more engine under the front or rear bonnet, no more traditional suspension system, and no more gearbox or transmission shaft thanks to the Michelin Active Wheel. That's because all essential components have been integrated into the wheel itself. Cars equipped with this integrated solution deliver an array of unique advantages. In a sense, the Michelin Active Wheel is an intelligent wheel capable of propelling cars without gasoline, while ensuring suspension and braking functions and providing unrivalled road handling and comfort."
NOT ONLY THAT BUT HERE IS HOW IT WORKS..
"The Michelin Active Wheel inaugurates a new era in road transportation in which a car's road, safety, energy and environmental performance achieve unprecedented levels. This is because of a miniature drive engine and an electrical suspension system incorporated into the wheel. These technologies developed by Michelin have made it possible to completely rethink the car."
Something like this really can change the whole idea of a car. While other people are looking for ways to replace gas...this company looked for a way to change how a car moves. Brilliant in my opinion. This can definitely go somewhere. I would like to see this design in ten years. I will buy a car that has it.

Response to "Bomb Proof Trash Cans"
"The new bin is designed to absorb the heat of explosives and prevent the spread of shrapnel using "blast intelligent technology".
And in its new guise the bin will not only protect and collect, it will also keep passers-by up to date. Each will be fitted with the latest electronic technology, providing a stream of news and travel information on LCD screens."
This idea to me seemed a little streched with i started reading it, because it is something so minute and its such a big design for something so small. While the idea is great, i think that technology might be heading toward "out of hand" with this idea. If you told someone twenty years ago that we would have bomb-proof electronic garbage cans...they would have called the nearest mental facility to see if they were searching for an escapee.

Respose to "Holy Grail of Chairs"
This is a design of a chair that is made to fit "anyone" whether tall, skinny, fat, short...it will seat you, and adjust at that. It has coils that allow the chair to fit to your body. I don't think i could believe it without seeing it, or sitting in it, but it is a great design.

A $99 application to add to your phone to use it as a desk clock! It is plugged in and does not waste battery, and is another thing less that you have to buy that you can put right on your phone.

Response to "Self designed iPod accessorie"
While the armband was a great idea for iPods, this one is even better. It is a magnet like sheet that goes on the indside of your clothing and the iPod magnet on the actual iPod sticks to it. GREAT when you are in need of free movement and want it to attach to your clothes!! This was created by a couple, and since have made 50,000 dollars in sales in 6 months off of this self designed product.

Response to "Rescuebot"
This is an article that states the importance of design. The most important thing in this article, however, is that it says the design elements are taken from nature. That is something that should be done when creating something in place of something else. An example of this is how we needed airplanes to fly...we designed them after the shape and anatomy of the bird. Everyone just keeps getting smarter :)

Response to "Pininfarina Launches Electric Car"
This new project sounds like a good idea. The design of the car is visually pleasing, and the fact that it seats 4 is going to grab the attention of many. Does it have a trunk? Little questions need to be answered, but the idea is going in a good direction. www.core77.com

Response to "Designing a Desktop Alternative in Milan"
A new design for desktops? Not sure what could change because the desktop has always been consistant in its design, however, to improve you need to change! It is supposed to easily handle mass amounts of information. It is trying to relplace the "folder" metaphor...not sure how to accomplish that, but by all means try! I would like to see it. http://www.core77.com/

Response to "Color IQ Test"
This is a web sight that allows you to associate colors with words. It is supposed to, in the long run, help designers figure out what colors people associate with certain things. Core77 describes it as "a perfect thursday afternoon time waster". Whether it is 100% accurate is questionable, however it is 100% what the public sees colors as. Its has to have an effect somewhere.www.core77.com

Comment On "Thames Water design comp finalists announced"
London is trying to get people in resturants to buy tap water instead of bottled. In order to do this successfully they tried to have a design contest to see who could creat the best design to store the water in and pour it into the cups infront of the customers. The top three are creative and may have a chance of succeeding in their effort to create something visually pleasing.
